General Points of Entry
There are four general points of access to Suriname:
• The J.A. Pengel International Airport, about 40 kilometers south of Paramaribo;
• The International harbor of Paramaribo;
• The border town of Albina on the left bank of the Marowijne river, opposite St. Laurent du Maroni in French Guyana (in the East);
• Nieuw Nickerie in the North-western section of the country, near the border with the Cooperative Republic of Guyana (in the West).
Indonesian residents wishing to visit the country can board regular flights to Suriname via Europe or Amsterdam. European Union residents can board regular and direct flights at the Schiphol International Airport at the city of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
It is also possible to reach Suriname by means of a flight from Paris to Cayenne, the capital city of French Guyana. At that point a transfer has to be made to a regular scheduled flight from Cayenne to the J.A. Pengel International Airport. Other visitors can reach Suriname either via Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Belem, Curacao or Barbados.
